As per recent investigatory reports put forth by a coroner, regarding death of a university student, it has been revealed that the coroner has blamed a mental health support agency for the death and also claimed that the agency failed to take an action immediately, even after she blogged that she is going to kill herself.
It has been reported that the incident occurred in June 2009 in Adelaide; the 19-year old Natassja Jorkowski was recovered to be dead at her home at Wynn Vale, few hours later to her postings on the web.
A few months before committing suicide, the student called for help from counselors of Flinders University, where she acknowledged them that she wishes to commit suicide and also handed over a two-page document that detailed the reasons, as to why the girl wanted to commit suicide.
Administering the seriousness of the case, Assessment and Crisis Intervention Service (ACIS) of SA Health fixed an appointment of the young lady with a consulting psychiatrist but she didn't turn up.
ACIS clinical psychiatrist Dr Julian Toh informed the coroner that he had went through the case study of the girl nine days before she died. He concluded: "ACIS had time to work with her and at no stage he regarded the teenager as needing detention under the Mental Health Act".
